The Aston Martin One-77

The One-77 is a limited edition supercar that Aston Martin says is capable of going in excess of 200 miles an hour. Only 77 will be built.

The One-77 is Aston Martin's definitive sports car, one that epitomises everything Aston Martin from technology, hand-craftsmanship of the hand rolled aluminium panels to the attention to detail. A culmination of all the marquee's know-how, the One-77 delivers effortless beauty guaranteed to stir the senses with performance potential eclipsing any previous Aston Martin.

The One-77 is Aston Martin's first attempt at a true supercar and the results of which are extremely impressive. The One-77 is powered by a naturally aspirated seven point three liter V12 engine mated with a six speed automated manual transmission which gives the car an impressive top speed - Aston Martin says that, though the specifications haven't been finalized yet, the car should roar from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 sec and reach speeds of over 200 mph.

The One-77 is built around an immensely light and rigid hand-laid carbon-fibre 'tub', just like an F1 car. Carbon fibre is used everywhere, from the aerodynamic addenda to the interior panels and seats, thus achieving serious weight savings results. The total weight will be under 1,500kg, impressive for such a big, powerful machine, and each car will take 1,500 hours to assemble at Aston's Gaydon HQ. The One-77's magnificent power unit is an extreme evolution of the 6.0-liter V12 engines fitted to the DBS, DB9 and new V12 Vantage models. Like the collaboration with MTC for the build of the chassis, Aston Martin has chosen a world-leading partner with which to develop the motor: legendary engine builders, Cosworth.

Controlled via column-mounted paddles behind the steering wheel, this robotised sequential manual is a new generation of Aston Martin's familiar transmission. Though it is made specifically for the One-77 and features specially strengthened internals to cope with the tremendous power and torque, the lessons learned in its development will ultimately find their way into the company's series production models.

A unique inboard suspension system, six-speed sequential manual gearbox and carbon ceramic brakes at all four corners are just a few of the top shelf standard features that One-77 customers will be getting.

Inside all 77 units can be individually customized just the way their owners wish from the gearbox to custom seats.

Aston martin wanted to produce something which was as exciting under the bonnet as the exterior shell and they certainly have achieved that aim. The One-77 combines advanced technology with stunning Aston Martin design in order to create a new car which is to be a state of the art, and if you are one of the lucky 77 who buys one of these limited attrition super cars - you're in for a real treat.
